The Letieres Leite Quintet, an afro jazz group from the historic estate of Bahia, Brazil, already in UK for live performances, masterclasses and workshops.
From 17 at October 22 the the Letieres Leite Quintet will land for the first time in England to concerts in London: a collaborative performance featuring United Vibrations, on thursday, 17 Oct, at The Albany World Music Theatre, and a special show, opening the night with Milton Nascimento and Siba, on Sunday, 20 Oct, at The Barbican (foyer).
“On this tour in England we do three shows, but what will be the stronger are the workshops, the masterclassics with musicians and residence with the group United Vibrations – it’s a great band known to the public that mix African contemporary culture with jazz , dub and ska. We are obliged to finish this meeting with one or two compositions. I’ll do masterclassics for young people and a big band. I’m very happy”, said the composer and maestro Letieres Leite.
This unique project includes artists collaborations as United Vibrations band and Animated Orchestra, youth workshops and masterclasses introducing the public to the musical concept of the “Universo Percussivo Baiano”.
The Midi Music Company Founder and Executive Director Wozzy Brewster OBE told of the exchange: MMC is delighted to welcome the Letieres Leite Quinteto for this exciting exchange of Jazz infused Afro-Brazilian rhythms and we hope that the creative opportunities provide inspiration for aspiring young musicians, as well as established composers, producers, instrumentalists and singers.
